Greek-style Burgers

INGREDIENTS
Makes 4 servings

1 large egg, beaten

½ tsp (2.5 ml) VE Minced Garlic

2 tsp (10 ml) VE Greek Seasoning

1 tsp (5 ml) freshly ground VE Black Pepper

1 lb (454 g) extra-lean ground turkey or beef

½ small onion, finely diced

¼ cup (60 ml) dry breadcrumbs

½ cup (125 ml) crumbled light feta cheese

1 tsp (5 ml) olive or vegetable oil

4 whole-wheat hamburger buns, toasted
  1. Whisk egg, VE Minced Garlic, VE Greek Seasoning and VE Black Pepper in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add turkey, onion, breadcrumbs and feta. Mix gently to combine.
  3. Moisten hands with water and form mixture into 4 – ¾ " (2 cm) patties.
  4. Grill or pan-fry patties. To pan-fry, heat oil in a VE Eclipse® Coated Professional Frying Pan over medium heat. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side.
  5. Place on buns and serve.

Creative Cooking Try VE Roasted Garlic instead of VE Minced Garlic.

Preparation Tip Make extra meat mixture, form into mini meatballs and freeze in a sealed container for Saturday’s meal. Extra meat can also be used for easy pasta dinners and meatball sandwiches.

Serving Suggestion Serve with fresh vegetables and prepared VE Tzaziki for dipping.
